Who can contact Rechtswinkel Heerlen?
Our free advice is open to people who struggle to access justice. This page tells you about who we help.
We support:
Low income means your gross annual income (your income each year before you pay tax) is lower than €31,100. If you’re registered as living with someone else, married or a single parent, your income is low if it’s under €44,000. If you want our help, please bring proof of your income when you visit us. This could be a payslip or benefit statement. If you’re unsure whether you can access our support on your income, don’t worry. Visit us anyway, and we’ll see what we can do.
If you’re in problem debt, you might not be able to pay lawyer’s fees. This could be because part of your income has been seized. If you want our help, please bring along evidence of your problem debt.
If you’re aged 65 or above, we can give you free advice on legal problems that affect you.
If you’re aged 23 or younger, we can give you free advice on legal problems that affect you. (The limit of 23 years is in line with Article 7.1.1.1. of the Dutch Child and Youth Act. Under this law, anyone aged 23 or younger is considered a ‘child’ or ‘youth’).
There are other reasons why you might struggle to access justice. This could be because you find it difficult to understand or communicate in Dutch, aren’t comfortable using digital technology or are living with a disability. We can help you. If you’re unsure whether you have a right to our free advice, please visit us. We’ll talk to you and find out whether we can help you.
Students are more likely than other people to experience legal problems, such as issues with landlords or student finance. If you’re a student and want our advice on a legal problem that affects you, please bring proof of your enrolment as a student. You must be enrolled in the academic year in which you contact us.
If you’re unsure whether you can access our free legal advice, just ask us. We can always refer you to another support organisation if we can’t help you.
